1. How old were you when you knew your life was going to be art? - 12 or 13
2. When did you start for real? - 12 or 13
3. Were you single minded in this pursuit or did you train/educate for a "real" job? - Both, played and went to UT, no degree
4. School - Did it help, hinder, or immaterial? - Immaterial
5. Who supported your decisions? - Other artists, and the fans, of course!
6. Do you have family? And where are they? - I do, they are all here in Austin, where I grew up
7. What gigs stand out to you, looking back? - Every single one where the barrier between musician and audience was removed and real connection happened, no matter the size of venue or popularity of performer.
8. Who do you like performing with? - I learn something from every musician I work with
9. What do you see as your best work? - The work I'm currently engaged in
10. Has your outlook on fame changed since you've achieved it? - HA HA, trick question! My outlook on infamy has certainly changed! Lasting fame is the result of hard and consistent work
11. Has notoriety changed you? - Apparently not as much as the press would have you believe
12. Do you feel satisfied with yourself? - Rarely in the present, often when looking back
13. How do you want to be remembered? - As a hard working musician
14. What are you currently working on? - Records and shows, records and shows, records and shows...
15. Is it as easy as it looks? - If you do the hard work before you hit the stage, it looks easy
16. Is it fun? - There is little in this world more fun or satisfying as sound surfing
17. What would you say to wannabe performers? - Hard work creates good luck
18. Do you have pets, what kind? - I only have pet names
19. What's more important - Talent or hard work? - Hard work. Talent gets your foot in the door, hard work stokes the fire of curiosity
